MyPenny - Money Tracker

Privacy Policy

MyPenny helps you track expenses and manage budgets, on your own or with someone you choose. Your financial data belongs to you, not to us.

The short version

SEMPER CODEX SRL, the developer of MyPenny, does not collect your personal or financial information through the app, sell it, track you, or show ads. We store none of your app data on our servers or in any database operated by Semper Codex. On iPhone, your budgets are stored on your device and synced through Apple's iCloud service; invited participants can access budgets you choose to share. On Android, your data stays on your device, with no cloud sync or upload to us.

No separate account required

MyPenny does not require a Semper Codex account, a separate login, or an email address. On iPhone, iCloud sync and budget sharing use your Apple Account and Apple's services, rather than an account with us. On Android, no account is needed and the app works locally.

Where your data lives

The app stores the information you enter, including expenses, amounts, dates, notes, categories, budgets, recurring payments, and names used within a budget. Settings and expense-logging streaks are also stored on your device.

On Android, budgets and expenses are stored in a local database on your device. The app does not upload them to Semper Codex or a cloud service, and its Android backup configuration excludes app data from cloud backup and device transfer.

On iPhone, MyPenny uses Apple's CloudKit to sync budget data across devices signed in to your iCloud account. Private budgets are stored in your private iCloud database; shared budgets use CloudKit's sharing features. Semper Codex does not operate a server that receives this data and cannot access your private or shared budgets.

Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can manage MyPenny's iCloud access in your device's Settings. Disabling that access stops cloud syncing; it does not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud.

Sharing a budget

On iPhone, sharing is optional and starts only when you choose to invite someone using Apple's iCloud sharing interface. Participants can access the information in the shared budget and, where allowed by the sharing permissions, make changes. Apple's sharing interface may also display participant identity information associated with their Apple Accounts.

Share only with people you trust. You can manage participants and stop sharing through the budget's sharing controls. Removing someone's access does not erase information they have already copied or saved outside the app. We do not receive a copy of your invitations or shared financial records.

No tracking or advertising analytics

MyPenny contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track your activity across other apps or websites. We do not use your budgets or expenses to build advertising profiles.

Notifications and widgets

If you allow notifications, MyPenny can schedule a daily reminder on your device to log expenses. You can turn reminders off in the app or revoke notification permission in Settings. On iPhone, CloudKit also uses system notifications to keep synced data up to date; these are handled by Apple's services.

If you add a MyPenny widget, it can display your expense-logging streak using data stored locally and shared between the app and its widget. It does not send that information to Semper Codex.

Deleting your data

You can delete expenses and budgets in the app. Deleting a budget you own also deletes its associated records; if it is shared, it will disappear for its guests once the change syncs. Cloud changes depend on iCloud being available and may take time to reach other devices.

On Android, you can remove locally stored app data by clearing MyPenny's app storage in Android Settings or uninstalling the app. There is no copy held by Semper Codex to delete.

On iPhone, removing the app does not necessarily remove data stored in iCloud. You can also manage the app's stored iCloud data through Apple's account and storage settings. We cannot retrieve, edit, or delete your budget records on your behalf because we do not have access to them.

Contacting us
